Feb 25 2013 Clary Sage Essential Oil As an Aromatherapist, I have a special love and predilection for Clary Sage. This particular oil is as magical as it is versatile – I have used it to help my clients with relationship problems, self-esteem issues, emotional turmoil and even gynaecological disorders. I frequently use Clary Sage in homemade shampoos and it is the key ingredient in ALEGRIA, my best selling aromatherapy blend! Through this article, I want to share with you the multiple benefits of this amazing oil.

What is Clary Sage?

Aug 10 2012 If you’ve taken a look around Aromandina.com, then you know I credit aromatherapy for giving me my greatest gift — my son.  But getting a fertility boost isn’t the only thing you can get from aromatherapy.  It’s also a great mood booster! If you’re looking for an all-natural way to improve your emotional well-being, read on.  You’ll be amazed at what aromatherapy can do for you! Instead of going through a detailed description of the science behind each essential oil, I’m going to share something much more powerful (and much more interesting!) with you — my own experiences with Aromandina products.

A happy store clerk

Take, for example, the woman who works at my local Office Max.  I was simply trying to stay refreshed during a run-of-the-mill afternoon errand, so I spritzed some Exulto Body Mist on my face and body. A few minutes later, a kind store employee offered to help me find the recycled paper I was looking for.  After that, she offered to make some copies for me — even though there were plenty of other employees in the copy department that could have helped me. As the copy machine was humming along, I noticed that this employee couldn’t stop smiling at me.  Finally, she asked me what scent I was wearing.  Before I could even open my mouth, this sweet employee threw her arms up in the air, walked around a bit, and told me that my scent reminded her of a walk in the forest! Funny, that’s exactly how I feel when I use Exulto, too! It was amazing to me how quickly this woman’s mood improved.  Even though she hadn’t spritzed herself, just getting a whiff of the essential oils in my Exulto Mist was enough to boost her emotional well-being — even if only for the few minutes she was talking to me! But that’s not the only memorable experience I’ve had with Exulto!

Better work relationships

I was talking to a lady one day about an upcoming missionary trip she was going on.  While she was looking forward to helping people, she wasn’t looking forward to working with her pastor — since he always seemed to disagree with her and belittle her ideas. I could see how anxious she was, so I handed her a bottle of Exulto and told her to spritz it on every time she was going to be near him.  I wasn’t sure if it would give him a change of mood, but I knew it would help her psychological well-being during the trip. After the trip was over, this woman told me that not only was the pastor nice to her, but he even told everyone to listen to her ideas because she knew what she was doing!

Grumpy old man

In my travels around town, I’ve even seen aromatherapy give marriages a boost! Not long ago, I was at a spa showing a woman different Aromandina products.  Out of the blue, she asked me how to handle a grumpy old man who never smiles… Sure enough, there was her husband, standing right behind her, and he looked anything but happy! Talk about feeling awkward! I grabbed a bottle of Alegria Blend, screwed off the lid, and told the man to sniff it.  “Grumpy” complied, and I asked him what he thought of the scent.  He didn’t say a word — because he was too busy smiling!  His wife was amazed! I wasn’t, though.  I’ve seen what aromatherapy can do for people’s emotional well-being.  I’ve seen it impact their hearts and minds.

What on earth makes these two products such a powerful way to boost people’s moods?

Both are made with a unique blend of three ingredients — Clary Sage, Ylang Ylang, and Litsea Cubeba. Clary Sage is an essential oil that’s known for boosting moods and easing tensions.  It’s often given to people suffering from depression and mental breakdowns.  Because it has euphoric qualities, it can create sudden mood changes! Ylang Ylang is the perfect complement to Clary Sage because it has “cooling” properties that work perfectly with Clary Sage’s “heating” properties.  Instead of creating euphoria, Ylang Ylang squashes strong negative emotions — like anger, frustration, and irritability. When you add Litsea Cubeba into the mix — a sharp citrus scent — it creates a refreshing aroma that instantly relieves stress and depression.

So, how can you take full advantage of Exulto Body Mist and Alegria Essential Oil?

When you’re having one of “those” days, have your bottle of Exulto close by.  That way, you can spritz some on your face and body anytime the stress, pressure, and frustration start to get overwhelming.  Don’t be afraid to use this product liberally!  Since it’s all-natural, it won’t create the side effects that prescription mood boosters do. You can use Alegria to boost the energy around you.  When things start to get rough at the office, put 5 drops of Alegria onto your aromatherapy burner, fill the bowl with water, and light a tea candle.  As the scent works its way around the room, you’ll notice a definite change in your coworkers’ attitudes! Alegria can also make you a great host.  The next time you’ve got guests coming over, have a few aromatherapy burners on hand.  You’ll be amazed at how much fun people have! Remember — you may not be able to keep “little things” from popping up and sending you into a bad mood.  However, you don’t have to live with those negative feelings!  Instead, you can completely change your mood and uplift your emotional well-being quickly and easily with aromatherapy. History of Aromatherapy and Romance

For thousands of years, people have used scents and aromas for love and sensuality. In ancient Egypt and Rome, bathing with essential oils was part of the ritual of preparation for lovemaking. Cleopatra, one of the most renowned lovers of all time, is reputed to have scented the sails of her royal barge with rose water to seduce Mark Antony as she sailed to meet him. Today, the perfume industry is a multibillion- dollar business based on the notion that fragrance makes us more attractive to each other. Nature’s essential oils have been used to heal the body, enhance life, evoke memories and seduce.

How Essential Oils Work

The aromatic molecules are inhaled and carried to the olfactory membrane, the place from which millions of nerve endings send signals to the brain. The scents are analyzed in different centers of the brain for memories and emotional and sexual responses. There’s a logical explanation for scent’s powerful effect on romance: there are studies that show that essential oils can act directly on the limbic system of the brain, the center of our emotions, memories and sexual behavior. Essential oils can affect your mood, emotional well-being and desires. The use of essential oils can help enhance self-confidence, radiate vibrancy, and increase sensitivity. Some essential oils can be stimulants, others aphrodisiacs, others euphoric or sedative. Their scents stimulate the mood and psyche creating erotic sensations and awakening desire.

  • GRAPEFRUIT – Instills self-confidence and positivity. It’s tart scent invites playfulness and brightens up the day.

Depression is not a sign of weakness, it is a sign that you have been strong for too long” ~ Author anonymous

Considering the complexity of the human mind, it comes as no surprise that the problems and disorders associated with it are just as bewildering. For decades, scientists have been struggling to understand the numerous  causes, trigger factors and manifestations of depression. The cause of depression may be different for each individual and the disorder often presents with varied, and sometimes contradictory, symptoms. On researching the existing literature, I knew I had to adopt a holistic approach as an aromatherapist and devise different and custom-made answers  for the same problem.

Depression and Chronic Stress

Problems at work or relationship conflicts slowly eat away your insides without you even realizing it. That is why it is so common to see successful professionals just fall apart because they are unable to deal with their anxieties and frustrations. Loss of motivation, drive and hope are some of the early signs of depression. Citrus essential oils like Bergamot, Orange, Grapefruit, and Lemon have refreshing and cleansing qualities that ease depressive stress. Their warm, fresh and fruity aromas are inherently joyful and harmonizing, particularly where tension has bred a narrow, negative outlook.  Have you noticed how positive and refreshed you feel after eating a citrus fruit? It’s scent releases repressed emotions and feelings of grief, shame, abandonment and anger. Our recommendation: Citrus Delight Essential  Oil Blend Put 2 drops on a tissue, close your eyes and inhale deeply three times. The fresh scents cleanse your heart of all negativity and promise hope for a better future.

Depression and Loss of Motivation

Ever seen a warm and friendly person change into a cold and apathetic one? Traumatic experiences like personal or financial losses can make people withdraw into a shell and stop experiencing joy altogether. Such individuals lack inspiration and enthusiasm even in the happiest of situations. Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, with its sensual and soothing aroma, helps restore self-confidence and allows you to express and appreciate your inner beauty. Clary Sage Essential Oil, helps us let go of inhibitions and do what we have always wanted to do. When you get to be spontaneous and ‘yourself’, it is not so difficult to have fun! Let the earthy sweetness and euphoric nature of this oil set you free. Litsea Cubeba Essential Oil, has a spicy-citrusy scent that adds some zing to a dull and boring life. Apart from being refreshing and energizing, it can help alleviate fear of emotional involvement. Our recommendation: Alegria (Joy) Essential Oil Blend Put 2 drops on a tissue, close your eyes and inhale deeply three times. Fill you mind and heart with gratitude and embrace the joy of being alive.

Depression and Powerlessness

Setbacks can at times leave people feeling helpless against the circumstances. This feeling of ‘victimization’ leads to chronic despair, dejection and a negative outlook towards life. Ginger Essential Oil  boosts the morale and its spicy scent sparks the will and awakens the senses. Cardamom Essential Oil provides the much needed ‘kick’ to keep you going and encourages you to be proactive. Eucalyptus Essential Oil opens up the chest and facilitates breathing. Deep breathing puts you at ease and allows you to view problems from a fresh perspective. There is always a way out – you just have to find it! Palo Santo Essential Oil has a woody aroma that is comforting and reassuring.  It promotes stability and helps you maintain your composure in difficult times. Our recommendation: Fiesta Essential Oil Blend Put 2 drops on a tissue, close your eyes and inhale deeply three times. Let the scents penetrate your mind and fill it with hope and confidence for better times to come. Photo By D Sharon Pruitt
