Oct 22 2010 Isn’t it a warm feeling to be welcomed home by your little furred friend wagging his tail and running around your ankles? Just like us, our pooches need to be loved, pampered and cared for. There are times when our little dogs suffer from separation anxiety, traveling stress or nervousness. Some situations like thunderstorms, firecracker shows, crowded places and meeting strangers can be extremely hard on sensitive canines. How does Aromatherapy work on pets? The same way it does on humans! Essential oils enter the system via two senses – smell (inhalation) and skin (massage, baths or topical use). Dogs and other animals are naturally more receptive to aromatherapy due to their enhanced sense of smell. When used topically in the form of massage, baths or body mists, essential oils oil detoxify and revitalize the body, strengthen the immune system and also act as a natural antiseptic. Also, specific smells have been known to evoke certain emotional behavior in canines. The three new products from Aromandina’s ‘Aromatherapy for Dogs’ line contain organic and all-natural ingredients that are safe for even puppies and smaller breeds. Calming Oil for Dogs: Calming essential oils like Mandarin, Marjoram, Palo Santo and Lavender work together to promote deep relaxation in hyperactive or stressed-out canines. Just put ½ teaspoon of oil on your hand and  give your dog a gentle, soothing massage. Not only does this help them sleep well, it makes for some great bonding time too! Calming Aroma Mist for Dogs: The same combination of essential oils as in the Calming Oil  in a convenient spray bottle to be used at home, in your car, outdoors, while traveling or whenever your pooch needs a little comfort and reassurance. Travel Easy Aroma Mist for Dogs: A warming and comforting blend of Ginger and Cardamom keeps motion sickness, digestive upsets and nausea at bay while Eucalyptus and Peppermint essential oils refresh and invigorate the senses. Keep this in your car at all times. Aromatherapy blends are a safe and effective way to help your pet stay calm and relaxed in stressful situations. When to use it?
  • To relieve separation anxiety in dogs when you have to leave home.
  • During long drives or air travel.
  • Before a visit to the vet.
  • When you bring home a new puppy and he can’t stop yelping at night.
  • If your dog is hyperactive and barks too much.
  • If your dog is nervous and anxious most of the time.
