soak your feet

At the first sign of a cold or flu, soak your feet, up to your ankles, in hot water.  Mix 10 drops of Immune Support essential oil with ½ cup of Epsom salts and add it to the water.

rub your feet to sleep

If you are prone to insomnia, rub Sleep Time body oil onto the soles of your feet, then put on a pair of cozy socks and rest with a hot water bottle on your abdomen until you doze off

take a breath break

The best way to stay healthy is to keep breathing!  Stand with your feet a little wider than hip-width.  Put 3 drops of Winter Blend essential oil into the palm of your hand, rub hands together and breathe deeply.  Do this for 10 breaths.  It’s a quick energizer.

spruce up your shower

After you are done showering turn off the water and put 1 teaspoon of Adrenal Support Body Oil on your hands.  The essential oils in this blend – Pine, Rosemary and Litsea Cubeba, are energizing, could help protect your immune system and they support the adrenal glands, which suffer when we get tired from the winter weather and lack of light.  Spread the oil all over your skin from head to toe (except the mucous membranes).

relax from head to toe

The people who get sick in the winter are those who are stressed out.  To stay healthy, make an effort to activate the relaxation response every single day.

  • When you get home, burn 6 drops of either Alegria (JOY) essential oil in your aromatherapy burner.
  • Take a warm bath with ¼ cup of SERENO Bath Soak
  • Do meditation  at least once a week

welcome the sunshine with aromatherapy!

Put a couple of drops of Citrus Delight Essential Oil Blend (Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon) on a tissue and smell from it through the day.

Mar 16 2010 Eucalyptus is one of the more widely recognized essential oils. Perhaps it is best known as a decongestant inhalation for colds and respiratory congestion but is also useful in many more ways. Thirteen different species were introduced in Ecuador in 1865, and have been used for their multiple medicinal properties since then. Eucalyptus grows well and abundantly in Ecuador because of the unique climate. Eucalyptus is cooling, refreshing and energizing. Traditional folk medicine has used its cooling effect to ease feverish conditions. Breathe in Eucalyptus deeply and feel your chest open, your posture become more erect and experience the ease of seeing things from a different perspective. “My grandfather used to have a huge property where he planted hundreds of Eucalyptus trees. We used to run through the woods and liked to  hold the eucalyptus leaves in our hands and breathe deeply. We always cut big branches of Eucalyptus and put them under our beds to protect us from catching a cold. This was specifically useful during the cold weather. (Yes, Ecuador has cold weather in the mountains).  If we were sick, my mom would put the Eucalyptus leaves directly on our chests and backs and covered with a warm sweater before going to sleep, the next day we always felt a lot better. At Aromandina, we import the Eucalyptus essential oil that is produced in small batches from communities in Ecuador, the scent, the purity always brings me back to my childhood and now I can help many people with Eucalyptus healing properties.” Benefits: Eucalyptus is an immune stimulant which assists people who are tired, run down and/or prone to frequent colds.  Aromatherapy for Immune System. Aromatherapy Tip

Today I woke up dragging my feet to get out of bed, wishing I could stay there and sleep and dream and forget about the day. But staying in bed is not a possibility, neither being sad or depressed.  There are so many good things to do today, so many great people to talk to and to meet that I could not afford to keep a dark cloud over my head. I know essential oils are there to help me. ..  Now, which one of them do I choose?  Rather than choosing an oil, I let them choose me. I just open my box of oils and take one of them, without looking at the label and it has always worked for me! So today, EXULTO Fiesta chose to be my helper, and boy, as soon as I opened the bottle to smell it my heart immediately started to quiet down.  Each blend has a story, each blend is the result of an experience either with myself, with my family, with my dear clients or my dear aromatherapy students.  Each blend comes with a specific combination of essential oils, and each oil has a story to tell. How EXULTO Fiesta was created My process of creation starts in my mind and in my heart, before the nose smells it. The name: I wanted to convey a spirit of celebration and the name Fiesta imprints that feeling of being in the now, dancing to the rhythm of life, just enjoying oneself and the company of others. The oils: my first choice were the spices Ginger and Cardamom to add that extra heat, to awaken the senses, and encourage you to keep moving.  Then came Eucalyptus Globulus, this special essential oil that I bring from Ecuador, maybe because it grows in altitudes as high as 10’000 feet, it has such a special aroma. Put a drop of Eucalyptus between your hands, breathe deeply and feel your chest opening, your perspective changes, your view of the world changes; your chest is no longer squeezed, rather open to new possibilities.  Finally I added just a hint of Palo Santo. I consider this very special oil a healer of the heart, a tree that calms the soul and lets us rest and lean on it without complaining and feeling overwhelmed.  Palo Santo in this blend provides that emotional and physical strength that we need to handle the many things we need to handle during the day. Just a whiff of Fiesta and these very special oils, with their wisdom and their love put my heart at rest.  I have also added 10 drops of the oil to my aromatherapy diffuser, now I’m ready for the day! Next time you feel down or depressed, know that essential oils are always there to help you. Disclaimer: This post has been written without proofreading.
