What is a “heart softener” and why is it called so?

Years ago, I was giving a class to a group of women in Ecuador. One of the ladies in her 50s was very beautiful in her looks, make up and clothes.  She told us that her husband would ask her why she puts on make-up when she was so ugly anyways.  He would be verbally abusive with her and she needed something to “calm him down”.

I made a blend using Geranium oil, Clary Sage oil , Lavender oil  and Grapefruit oil  and she bought 5 bottles of that blend!

For your information, 5 bottles of 10ml each of a blend means around 1000 drops of oils!

Since essential oils are used in small quantities, I knew that 5 bottles of the blend were going to last her for a while.  And they did.

Around a year later, I met her at the airport when both of us were traveling from Quito to Miami.  She asked me, “Do you remember me, and my story?”“Yes, I do remember!” I replied.“Well”, she said, “as soon as I came back home I started to put the blend in diffusers all over the house.  Religiously!  In the beginning my husband reacted negatively, rather angry at the smell. He was yelling that something was going on in the house. Nevertheless, I kept ‘perfuming’ the house quietly.”

She told me that it took a few months before her husband began to change his attitude. He became less angry and finally, she showed me her air ticket.  Her husband was waiting for her in Miami – they were going together on their second honeymoon to Europe and then to Israel, which had always been her dream!

Her story inspired me to share the blend with many others who benefited from it. It is called RADIARE.

I’ve told this story for years, several times everywhere. One day a client of mine told me that she had recommended this blend to one of her patients who had an aggressive teenage son. The woman used the oil at home and noticing the positive changes in her son’s behavior, began calling it “the heart softener”.

What makes this blend work?

This blend is made of essential oils that come from flowers (Clary Sage and Lavender) and a leaf essential oil with a very strong flowery scent (Geranium).

Flowers have a feminine nature; the flowery scents appeal more to women than men.

A flower is a representation of beauty; we keep flowers in our homes to make them look more beautiful, right?

An essential oil with a flowery nature will help us appreciate our own beauty as well as that around us.

In the first case, I think the lady lacked self-esteem, since her husband constantly told her she was ugly.  The consistent use of these essential oils allowed her to express how beautiful she was and be more confident.  I suppose her husband could perceive that and therefore started to respect her.

We know that people have both masculine and feminine sides, and flowery scents invoke the feminine side.  In this case, when the husband’s feminine side was stimulated, he became more compassionate.

I feel the same happened with the kid.  The calming, relaxing properties of Clary Sage, Geranium and Lavender must have helped him get in touch with his feminine side and he became a calmer person.

These may be hypotheses, but I know it worked and I know that those who use this blend have conveyed to me how much it helps – especially on days when we do not know why our mood is down, or why we are grumpy for no reason.

How about giving it a try yourself?

Apr 25 2011 Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that our products are working for our clients. They are made with love and the formulations are based on many years of practical experience. We’d like to share this successful story with you: “I had suffered with migraine-like hormonal headaches for at least 5 years, partly due to past overuse of steroids to control inflammation, asthma, and other allergy and immune-function problems. I began using Aromandina products five months ago. Since then I have only experienced one bad hormone headache. I’ve been using RADIARE Essential Oil Blend, Woman’s Help Body Oil, and Adrenal Support Body Oil almost every day. I have added one to three functional days to every month. Yay! An interesting side note is that I am unable to smell; yet the products seem to be working. I am now trying the Immune System Support Essential Oil Blend to see if maybe (crossing fingers) that blend will help my olfactory system function properly. Thanks Cristina and staff for awesome products and excellent service. One happy customer, ~carol welch” © 2011, Cristina Proano-Carrion, Aromandina LLC – aromatherapy blog

Aromandina’s Woman’s Joy treatment is intended to provide relaxation and comfort with the pampering qualities of feminine essential oils: geranium, lavender and clary sage.

This treatment begins with a gentle mist followed by a soothing oil designed for reestablishing mood balance and relaxation, and then a warm compress to the abdomen. We will pay particular attention to the head and scalp relieving any tension that tends to focus there. After the treatment we will recommend a home routine so that the client can continue the benefits of the Woman’s Joy treatment throughout the month.

Products in the treatment:

RADIARE Essential Oil
ALEGRIA Body Mist
Woman’s Help Body Oil

Supplies on Hand:

  • 2 Hand Towels
  • Crockpot

Room Set Up:

  • Crockpot filled with water on low setting with 5 drops of RADIARE Essential Oil
  • Have 2 hand towels soaking in crockpot water

Table Set Up:

Set up the table for a massage 1 drop  RADIARE Essential Oil on face cradle

Home Care Products:

RADIARE Essential Oil
ALEGRIA Body Mist
Woman’s Help Body Oil

Procedure:

1. Start client supine. Mist your client’s body using ALEGRIA Body Mist. Hold the bottle 2 – 3 feet from client with the nozzle facing toward the ceiling and spray the mist upward. The mist will fall gently on the skin and feel like the mist in a rainforest.
2. Wring out the hot water from the hand towel that is in the crockpot and lay over the abdomen area. Repeat with other towel. This compress helps to release accumulated tension in that area.
3.  Massage with Woman’s Help Body Oil .   In your mind’s eye see your client completely balanced, relaxed and supported. Communicate that in your touch.
4. Turn client prone, mist and then massage.

Jul 16 2010 Aromatherapy compresses

This is one of my favorite methods of essential oil application for many acute conditions. It is very useful to allow essential oils to penetrate in a particular area of the body.
1)  Mix 6 drops of essential oil(s) and 1 tablespoon salt in an empty bowl
2) Fill bowl with hot or cold water
3) Soak a piece of cloth, wring it out and cover the affected area
4) Repeat this process for 5 to 15 minutes, as needed.

For alternate compresses fill one bowl with very warm water, and the other one with iced water .

Here are some examples:

KIDNEY STONES:

Years ago we were invited to a family party, the moment we arrived my sister started to scream out of pain, she had an awful kidney stone that started to bother right at that moment.  Luckily for her, I carried my essential oils with me.  I asked the host of the party to give me two bowls.

I mixed 3 drops of Grapefruit essential oil and 3 drops of Fennel essential oil with 1 tablespoon of regular salt and added to one bowl.

I created another mixture and added to the other bowl.  One bowl was filled with hot water, the other one with iced water.

Fennel and Grapefruit are said to be litholytic which means they can dissolve stones. [1]

She was crying and initially would not even allow me to touch her.  I applied one compress at a time, first the hot one, then the cold one for about 15 minutes.

The pain subsided, she literally woke up and went to the bathroom, expelled the stone and went to dance!

After the party I made a massage oil with orange, grapefruit, fennel and other detoxing oils, she applied it on her lower back and lower abdomen every day and never complained about a kidney stone again. I have recommended this method to many more friends and clients, they have always reported great results.

Aromandina’s recommendation: Detoxing Body Oil

MENSTRUAL CRAMPS – DYSMENORRHEA

I’m one of those lucky women who hasn’t had a problem like that, but since I have worked in several spas I knew how my fellow coworkers felt on one of those days when they could not do a treatment out of the pain they were feeling. The essential oil  that have worked very well for me are: You can also use some Frankincense if the pain is excruciating.  I remember that every time I applied these compresses I could feel their organs moving, almost like dancing, like stretching.
After 10 minutes, the pain was gone!
I then recommended them to use a massage oil with the same oils on a regular basis in order to not only address the symptoms but also to start regulating their bodies and hormonal system.

Aromandina’s recommendation for compresses: RADIARE Essential Oil, for massage oil: Woman’s Help Body Oil

MIGRAINES

When my husband suffered from migraines, I used cephalic and analgesic essential oils, to stimulate circulation. I applied the alternate compress method and again, it only needed 10 minutes for him to feel great again. The following  essential oils are very useful: Aromandina’s recommendation for compresses: Memoria Blend, for daily application: Headache Begone Roll On
NOTE: Headaches and migraines are usually symptoms of many other conditions.  This is just a method to help with the pain, but I highly recommend visiting a holistic practitioner who can help you get to the root of the causes.

FEVERS

I always tell my students and clients that my son, in his 13 years of life has had only  5 infections.  He doesn’t remember if he ever had a fever, and yes, his last fever was when he was 8 years old where he had an ear infection.

For fevers, think about cool oils like Spearmint and Lavender.

Apply cold compresses on the forehead, abdomen and feet.

OTHER USES

Muscle Pain: peppermint, rosemary, lavender, marjoram, birch – cold or hot compresses

Stomach Cramps: ginger, cardamom, fennel, cinnamon [1]
