Ever play that game where you have to choose just a couple of things you’d want if you were stranded on a desert island?  For me, Mandarin essential oil would definitely be on the list!  I love this stuff!

I first discovered Mandarin oil about twenty years ago, and ever since, it’s been my go-to oil on stressful days, on nights that I can’t sleep, and even for my young son.  In fact, Mandarin is one of the safest and gentlest essential oils for children and pregnant women.  Kids especially seem to like it because it smells like candy!

What exactly does Mandarin oil do?

It gives your digestive system a boost

Whether you’ve got indigestion, gas, or stomach spasms, Mandarin oil can help your digestive system secrete bile and break down fats.  It’s also got antispasmodic qualities that can give you quick relief from gas pains and hiccups.
Simply mix 20 drops of Mandarin with 4 ounces of carrier oil and massage it clockwise over your tummy.  (And, yes, this mixture is safe for young kids and the elderly!)  – For children under 2, mix 4 ounces of jojoba oil with 5 drops of mandarin oil.

Nov 18 2015 keep-calm-and-enjoy-thanksgiving
Between the temperature dips, the mile-long grocery shopping list, and family and friends arriving from every corner of the country, it’s no wonder the Thanksgiving season can be so stressful! If you truly want to be able to give thanks this year, you’ve got to get a handle on it. Luckily, the right aromatherapy regimen can help you do it!

Even though your daily routine tends to go by the wayside this time of year, it only takes a few short minutes to use your essential oils the right way.

Here’s what I suggest…

…If you’re headed out of town

You don’t have to host the giant Thanksgiving feast to get all stressed out. Traveling this time of year — when the roads and the airports are jam-packed — can lead to a lot of stress. Plus, being packed into a crowded car or airplane is the perfect breeding ground for germs, and lord knows getting sick is going to stress you out! Or, if you’re headed to a place where the air is different than what you’re used to — like up to the mountains, for example — your respiratory system might make things difficult on you.
I created Aromandina’s Immune Support Essential Oil Blend specifically to battle those yucky symptoms! Made with Eucalyptus radiata, Tea Tree, Ravensara, and other carefully-chosen oils, this blend is designed to strengthen your respiratory system so that it can handle everything the Thanksgiving season throws at it. (Prefer to use single oils over a blend? Niaouli, Bay Laurel, and Peppermint will give you similar strength.)
All you have to do is place a few drops on a tissue and breathe in. Or, you can purify an entire room by squeezing a few drops onto a hot light bulb.

…If you’re hosting the family this year

Between cooking the perfect turkey and making sure all of your guests feel at home, being the Thanksgiving hostess is awfully stressful! To get through it, you’ll need Aromandina’s Energia Essential Oil Blend. It’s made with Rosemary, Litsea Cueba, and Pine — all of which can give your adrenal glands a powerful kick in the right direction. As a result, you’ll feel more energized and alert.
The easiest way to use this blend? Place a few drops on your washcloth, and hold it up to your chest in the shower. After just a few deep breaths, you’ll feel ready to take on the day!

You can even take advantage of your aromatherapy regimen in the kitchen. After all, that’s the most likely place to feel stressed this time of year! Luckily, citrus essential oils — like Lemon, Grapefruit, and Bergamot — are great at calming you down without making you feel tired or sluggish.
Want to use them all together? Try Aromandina’s Citrus Delight Essential Oil Blend. The easiest way to use this blend is to squeeze 15 drops into a bowl of hot water, and place the bowl on your aromatherapy burner. That way, you’ll have powerful scents floating through the air — along with that delicious home-cooked turkey scent! As an added benefit, that oil-infused air will help make your guests feel more relaxed, too!
And speaking of your guests, if you want them to feel at home in your home, try Aromandina’s Autumn Blend. Made with Ginger, Cardamom, Cinnamon and Orange — each of which have uplifting properties that can make you feel downright euphoric. (Or, if you prefer a single scent, try Spearmint, Lemongrass, or Orange.)

…If your eyes were bigger than your stomach

When most people think of Thanksgiving, they think of overeating! If you piled a few too many gourmet goodies on your plate, don’t panic. Essential oils like Ginger, Orange, Cardamom, Rosemary and Spearmint are actually known as “digestive oils”. Each one can make you feel a little less stuffed, while also eliminating embarrassing flatulence.
Personally, when I eat a little too much, I grab a bottle of Aromandina’s Digestive Body Oil . It’s made with those all-important digestive oils, so I can massage it right onto my abdomen for some quick relief.

Dec 16 2014 how to avoid holiday stress
As much fun as it is to deck the halls and unwrap presents, the holiday season can also be incredibly stressful.  Between finding time to bake gooey goodies, buying budget-friendly gifts, and entertaining countless family members, it’s no wonder you’re feeling frazzled!

Luckily, though, the right aromatherapy regimen can get you through it.  Here’s what I recommend doing to eliminate all of that holiday stress:

1.  Breathe

A little bit of fresh air can go a long way — especially when you combine it with the right essential oils!  Squeeze a drop of Eucalyptus radiata or Winter Blend (with Eucalyptus, Lavender and Grapefruit essential oils) onto your scarf, and head outside for a 10 minute walk.  As you breathe deeply, you’ll start to feel more positivity.  That’s because eucalyptus physically and emotionally opens up your chest, so you’ll get even more of that awesome fresh air than you would otherwise.  And, because eucalyptus is a proven mood-booster, it will quickly knock out your stress.  It’s a powerful 1-2 punch!

2.  Take a bath

Does anything feel better after a long, stressful, cold day than a warm bath?  No way!  But to get the most out of your bath, add 1/4 cup of  heavy cream (yes the whipping kind) to the water with 10 drops of essential oils.  This is the best way to  soak away all of the stress.  I like to call it “cleaning your heart”!

You can take this bath time indulgence a step further by choosing an the essential oil blend that’s right for you.  For example, ENERGIA is great for soothing sore muscles, while ALEGRIA is especially uplifting.  SLEEP TIME is the perfect way to help us have a restful sleep, and WINTER BLEND can open up your sinuses as you fight off those pesky winter germs.  Or, if you want to turn bath time into couple’s time, opt for ROMANCE  No matter which one you choose, all of your holiday stress will go right down the drain!

3.  Keep your energy level high

Sounds easier said than done, right?!  Luckily, though, having enough energy to survive the holidays is as easy as misting your face.  I created ALERTA body mist to be a pick-me-up that works in seconds.  No matter how busy you are this holiday season, you’ve got a few spare seconds!  ALERTA is made with peppermint, spearmint, cardamom, and rosemary, so it can stimulate both mind and body.  Personally, I use it all the time — like while I’m driving, cooking, and working.  That way, I have all the energy I need, without filling my body up with caffeine-laden coffee.

Want the same success? You can use all of the stress-busting products I use by shopping at Aromandina!

The world of essential oils is indeed very fascinating; the more you learn about them, the more you will want to make up your own concoctions. To help you with day-to-day applications of essential oils, I have compiled a list of common ailments along with recommended oils for each and their method of use.  This guide will also help you decide which essential oils are best suited for you.

Tea Tree, Geranium and Lavender Add 3 drops of each to 1 oz of Jojoba Oil .  Put some of the oil on your fingertips and apply on the face with press and release over face and neck.

Alegria Blend, Citrus Delight Blend, Rose Absolute  Put 3 drops of the either blend on a tissue, place it under the nose and inhale directly.  This method is recommended for an instant effect. Mix 10 drops of one of these blends with 1/4 cup unscented salts, to a bath and soak for 15 minutes.

Stress, fatigue, frustration and lethargy – does any of this sound familiar to you?
If so, you are among the millions of people who battle 40-hour workweeks, stuffy cubicles and long hours in front of the computer screen almost every day.
As a working person, you probably spend a larger part of the day at your workplace and yet, you have little or no control over your work environment.
While you can’t do much to change the structure of your workplace of the nature of your job, you can certainly make your office surroundings more pleasant, conducive and supportive with the help of aromatherapy.

Here, we address how stress can affect our performance and explain how aromatherapy can help alleviate these problems.  All it takes is a few vials of essential oils and a few minutes of your time.

Mental and Emotional Stress

Every job comes with its own set of stressors. There are deadlines to meet, targets to achieve and that inherent sense of competitiveness that pushes us to perform better . While “positive stress” leads to motivation, creativity and increased productivity, “negative stress” can erode a person’s spirit and results in:

  • chronic frustration

  • lack of energy

  • inability to cope with pressure

If you ever find yourself leaning towards the latter, you can always count on essential oils to bail you out. Mental stress can often be attributed to anguish over unfinished tasks or financial worries.

Recommended essential oils for Mental Stress:

Start with a healing combination of calming, stimulating and balancing essential oils.
Combine 4 drops each of Lavender, Bergamot, Geranium and Cardamom essential oils with 1 Oz of carrier oil.
Apply this blend on the back of your neck, the solar plexus area and the soles of your feet twice a day to relax the mind, release the tension from tightened muscles and inspire you to take on new challenges with renewed enthusiasm.
You can also put 1 drop of each essential oil on a tissue and inhale directly during the day.
Emotional stress may be borne out of relationship problems, conflicts with co-workers, lack of self-esteem, parental guilt or failure to strike the perfect work-life balance.

Recommended essential oils for emotional stress:

The nurturing scent of Sweet Orange, the warmth of Ginger and the uplifting properties of Clary Sage come together to form the perfect tonic for the soul.
Combine four drops of each with 1 Oz of carrier oil and massage the solar plexus, back of the neck and pulse points on the insides of your wrists with this blend twice a day.
Using 4 drops each of these oils in a diffuser or aromatherapy burner in your office is a great way to stay relaxed, happy and positive throughout the day

The next time you feel drained-out or drowsy when there is a whole lot of work lined up, don’t reach out for caffeine – give yourself a wake-up call with natural essential oils instead.
Fill a 1 Oz spray bottle with distilled water and add five drops each of Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Peppermint essential oils. Keep this bottle handy in your office and spray your face with eyes closed every time you find yourself slacking or losing focus.
The invigorating and stimulating properties of these oils will help you stay alert and active even during the infamous “after-lunch slump”.

Using essential oils in the workplace is effective, inexpensive and an all-natural way to boost your productivity and make the most of your work hours. It is also one of the few stress-busting remedies that your boss won’t object to and your co-workers will thank you for.
